Map, Kingdoms & Religions
INFORMATION ABOUT THE RELIGIONS & KINGDOMS OF THE REALM AS WELL AS A MAP.
Religion:
The religions of this world are connected. The Yōkai represent the same thing in both The God’s Will and The Church of Oberon, the soulless being the souls of the corrupted and damned (Imps). Yōkai are generally peaceful towards The God’s Will because they are seen as people with corrupted souls or no souls that God doesn’t want—he will refuse to take a tainted soul. Yōkai and The Church of Oberon are natural enemies. The Church of Oberon believes that Oberon wants to free the souls of those who have been tainted. The children of Oberon kill any Yōkai on sight.
THE GOD’S WILL:
The God’s Will is a relatively new religion to the realm. It first appeared after King Fuzen took the throne of Lydena and has been the kingdom’s main religion since. The only beliefs of the followers of ‘The God’s Will’, are that their lives are meaningless in the face of the ultimate power. It’s often associated with extreme pessimism and absurdism. Believers of the religion believe that God was mistaken to place souls on this earth and one day will return to reclaim what is rightfully his. Extreme believers have often referred to the ‘God’s Chrysalis’ which they believe is the egg that will hatch God himself. The people of Lydena believe that death is the only way to atone for any sins, for them, living is the sin, as it seen as ‘stealing’ from God. Suicide is also not an option when trying to atone for sin, as it is seen as staining the soul with dirt, and is the most disgraceful act a believer could do.
THE GOD'S WILL COMMANDMENTS:
Your life is not your own. It is property stolen from god.
You shall never beg for mercy. Forfeit your life for God and he shall treat you accordingly.
The God’s Chrysalis will become the cocoon for a perfect world.
God will come to correct his mistake. When that time comes. Do not struggle. Do not beg. Accept.
You shall never believe that you are anything in the face of God. We are scum that plague this realm.
Taking your own life is an act of cowardice. Your soul shall suffer for the rest of eternity by the hands of God himself. Souls must be offered without the stench of the decrepit, cowardly act of suicide.
The God’s Chrysalis may grant breeds to those worthy of becoming God’s Holy Thief Takers, to carry out God's commands and return our pitiful souls.
THE CHURCH OF OBERON:
This is one of the oldest religions within the realm and is the largest religion. The apostles of Raedijin spread the word of Oberon throughout the realm during the rebellions of Lydena. The religion is based off the god Oberon’s teachings. The book of Oberon has been the only book directly written by a Numen. The Numen believed that they had finally found God and wanted to spread the word. The beliefs include:
- The belief of Oberon, her palace, her salvation and her gift of life.
- Every soul can find salvation under the protection of Oberon.
- Eternal life, where the world will never end nor will humanity under the protection and prayer of Oberon.
- The open mind to other gods that may reside alongside Oberon in her palace.
It is said that after death, you shall be welcomed into Oberon’s palace where a peaceful life awaits all who believe. Inquisitors deliver sermons or homilies to the people, as well as perform functions such as teaching of beliefs, leading services such as weddings or funerals, or otherwise providing spiritual guidance to people in the realm. Inquisitors are also seen as extremists and are extremely skilled in battle. Each inquisitor has one child throughout their life—that child is given to the Oberon Church at birth to be trained in the combat and the teachings of Oberon to become an inquisitor.
OBERON'S COMMANDMENTS:
Thou shalt believe in the holy Deity with a full heart.
Thou shalt give thanks to the Deity for the gift of life.
Thou shalt not disgrace the honor of Oberon thy Deity with the disbelief of other Gods that may reside within the Holy Palace.
Thou shalt cleanse the realms of all evil.
Thou shalt protect thy brothers and sisters.
Thou shalt pray for the forgiveness of thy sins.
Thou shalt not commit transgression against thy Kingdom nor Deity.
Thou shalt listen to thy inquisitors; the Deity’s chosen children.
Thy soul shall be cleansed upon death.
YŌKAI:
The god of everything that is free. All of those that follow Yōkai, are to do as they please, when they please. There is nothing to stop them. No kingdom to follow, no rules. The child of Yōkai, Amon Raedijin, the incarnation of the freedom of life and everything eternal, is the voice of the religion. They have no guidelines or beliefs except to unleash their freedoms and deepest desires, however and whenever they want, and when a child becomes an Imp, they are divinities and proof that Yōkai is real and he’s smiling at their behavior in adhering to their urges as they please.
The Five Rings of Yōkai represent the five different sects within the religion:
1- The Malice Sect (Kin)
2- The Liberosis Sect (Arran)
3- The Chaos Sect (Tiamat)
4- The Hate Sect (Ivar)
5- The Eternal Sect (Amon Raedijin)
The Gods of Grey:
The Grey is a religion based on morality and an absolute equilibrium between all things good and all things evil within the realm. All those that reside in the Synn’s Crypt follow this religion. They witness the true horrors of the realm and realize that horror is a necessity for human beings. But too much horror can crumble the minds as well as the world around them. This relates to the aspect of good as well. If too much good resides in the world, human beings will become weak and complacent in their lives. Doing nothing but live a worthless life until they eventually perish. The Gods of Grey attempt to establish a balance between the two. They believe that this is the only way that humans can live a life with enough hardship to truly become the greatest they can possibly be. This is why the Synn’s Crypt is seen as a neutral zone within the realm.
The peace between what is believed to be good and evil is shown through the loyalty and faith of those who believe in the Gods of Grey. Monks who can hunt the evil within the world as well as let it roam under their guidance. The Gods of Grey are Gods that can see the truth of all sides of a war or conflict. They believe that righteousness and honour can be found in both places with knowledge of the motivation of those that wish to cause harm to others. To one, the actions may be cruel and evil, but to others, it is heroic and noble. The Gods of Grey recognize that it purely depends on where you stand in the realm and who tells the story.
Miscellaneous
NUMENS:
Souls that have materialized in the world. It is extremely rare that a Numen will come to the realm and are often referred to as Numen Sages due to their wisdom. Most of the Numens that have appeared in the realm through the Numen Gate have not gotten involved in any affairs. Numens have also been known to accompany Synns, or to stay close to them. Numens usually do not stay in the realm very long and return to the Ceder. The Numen Tensei has been the longest Numen to stay in the realm as she is the guardian of the Numen Gate.
OBLISIDITE:
A extremely rare mineral that is found deep underground and is made from the blood of Mancers. Oblisidite appears as a dark, blood-red crystal. Too much Oblisidite in the blood can create a Maji heart. Oblisidite is used by Numens to create Espadas and to experiment with changing Maji breeds.
CEDER SAND:
Ceder Sand is mirrored sand that can only be found at the Numen Gates. This mirrored sand has the ability to show a Mancer what breed they possess by showing the main element of the breed/s within the reflection. Ceder Sand requires a drop of a Mancer’s blood to display their breed. It is called Ceder Sand because it is sand that only appears in the Ceder, the world beyond the Numen Gates only Numens can reach. Ceder Sand is extremely rare but is usually supplied to each Kingdom by the Numen that guards the Numen Gates.
ESPADAS:
Espadas are the trademark weapon of a Synn. An Espada accepts its wielder; if someone is not accepted the Espada can kill or psychologically damage the person who attempts to wield it. Its capability determines on the wielder’s Maji strength, mental stability and training. Espadas are weapons created by the old Numens from Oblisidite. Each blade is unique to the next, from the power, verbal command, and shape. Obtaining the verbal command is similar to gaining the command to use certain Maji powers. The Espada needs to have direct contact to the bloodstream of wielder. The blood of the user reacts and forces the name of the command into the mind of the user. Espadas can be passed down generations. Synns have the ability, with an immense amount of training, to create new commands, as long as they do not differ from the original power of the original command of the Espada. Wielding an Espada is also extremely dangerous as it will slowly evaporate the blood of the user much like using Maji.
SYNNS:
Synns are Mancers that have two Maji stages. The strength, appearance and usage of blood varies when the second stage is active.
